Lynmore Estates 2016 Yard of the Month
-Lynmore Estates Neighborhood Watch Association in partnership with the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) selects a Lynmore Estates YARD OF THE MONTH (YOM) among residents of its 10 street neighborhood. Nominations are received from neighborhood residents with judging conducted monthly by representatives of the Keep Macon Bibb Beautiful Commission, Four Seasons of Georgia Landscaping Co., Middle GA State College, Porter Field Garden Club and Asplundh Tree Service Company and retirees. The following criteria are used to determine the winner:
Curb or eye appeal;
Enhancement of the neighborhood;
Mature trees incorporated into the landscape; and
Use of plant material/garden art that creates a unified theme.
The Thomas Family of a Roy Avenue address was chosen as the Lynmore Estates (LE) December 2016 YOM winner.” This is the second YOM win for the Thomas Family. The first was in October 2013. Mr. Thomas is very meticulous about his yard. According to LE Yard of the Month Committee Chair, Janie Grayer, “The cleanliness of the yard is striking and displays a natural simplicity which captured the eye and interest of the design of the yard.” This win qualifies the Thomas’ for the Yard of the Year, which will be announced in December.
Winners of the LE Yard of the Month receive a “Yard of the Month” sign for display in the winning yard; recognition of the yard on the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity and Lynmore Estates websites; framed Certificate of Award presented by the Lynmore Estates Yard of the Month Committee; and a $25 gift certificate to Minton Lawn and Garden Center.
Macon Area Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is ecumenical Christian housing ministry devoted to ending substandard housing and revitalizing neighborhoods. Since its inception in 1986, Macon Area Habitat for Humanity has served one hundred and ten families in the Macon area through invaluable partnerships with area churches, corporations, groups, and individuals.
