Ocmulgee's 3rd Annual Bio Blitz

After two successful years reeling in 400 participants in Ocmulgee's Bio Blitz, the park is planning yet another great event this Saturday at 9am. At the Ocmulgee Bio Blitz, participants are invited to help identify the different butterfly species who live in the Ocmulgee National Monument park.

All participants have to do is bring a camera and take photographs, giving said photographs to the park's officials to catalog the different butterfly species in the park. Participants will be given a free t-shirt and water bottle. There is no cost to attend. The Ocmulgee National Monument park officials encourage participants to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and sun protection along with bug spray as the event will last all day and participants may find themselves venturing in areas with high volumes of bug life. For younger participants, the park will provide arts and crafts making butterfly sun catchers and ceramic jewelry boxes. There will be a storytime for toddlers at 11am. To learn more about this event, please visit the Macon Telegraph's website.
