Neighborhood Watch Meeting – July 2nd

At the July Neighborhood Watch meeting which took place on July 2nd, Lynmore Estates community leaders and residents discussed the state of Lynmore Estates, sharing good news about programs that continue to thrive in the neighborhood and ideas for improvement in the future. Many of the raised discussions were positive and affirmative of the community’s progress since partnering with Neighborhood Revitalization Manager, Dr. Woodford. Some residents suggested new ideas, such as the mention of a neighborhood newsletter, which could partner with the neighborhood’s website, lynmoreestates.com, to reach all residents and the greater community.

After the meeting was adjourned by Neighborhood Watch president, Ms. Redmond, attendees enjoyed light refreshments sponsored by Southside Community Church. Afterwards, students participating in the Mercer on a Mission trip to Cape Town, South Africa led a focus group discussion. They asked neighborhood residents in small groups what were some things that they liked about the neighborhood such as the community’s annual garden and what were things that residents did not like, such as the unsafe conditions at the school bus stop at the five-point intersection. With a long list of questions, the students were able to collect ample information about residents’ satisfaction with Lynmore Estates and suggestions on improvements to be made.
