Arbor Day Celebration in Lynmore Estates

A small group braved the frigid morning temperature to gather in Lynmore Estates Park in celebration of Arbor Day. The Parks and Recreation Department planted 36 oak (15 Chinkapi, 10 Shumar, 11 Nuttall) trees in this south Macon park. Public addresses were made by Derrick Catlett with the Tree Commission, Macon-Bibb Commissioner Larry Schlesinger, Joan Scales with the Georgia Forestry Commission, Lynmore Estates Neighborhood Watch Association President Carrie Redmond, Pastor Rayford Johnson of Countryside Baptist Church, Crown Candy President Jim Weatherford and MAHFH’s Neighborhood Revitalization Manager Sundra Woodford. Representatives from Macon-Bibb County government, the Lynmore Estates neighborhood, and employees or the two bordering businesses to the park were also in attendance.
