The Torres Although the Torres’ family have only lived in the Lynmore Estates neighborhood a year, they are known for their magnificently appointed estate property with its manicured lawns & gardens. The woman of the house gives all the credit to the man of the house—or yard, if you will. He enjoys gardening and has an eye for balance and symmetry.
The house they lived in prior to their Habitat home brings to mind an image of dilapidated housing in a third world country. The house was poorly ventilated which caused mildew to grow on the interior walls of the house, no hot water in the kitchen, and small living space. And more, they had no yard to call their own. Their new home affords them inside and outside spaces to grow and decorate. The façade of their home gives pause to visitors to the neighborhood. Monic was thrilled to have been selected to participate in the Contest and accepted the nomination because she says it is more confirmation that she and her family are bringing beauty into the world. The Torres’ used the gift card to purchase seasonal flowers and pumpkins.
Monic, when asked about why her family puts so much work into their yard states, “I love my yard because I love when I come home to a tranquil and serene view. We put so much work into our yard because we are appreciative of what we have and we want to look at what we've done and be proud of our home inside and out.”
