Civic Education Program Open to High School Students
For the past two years, Bibb County (and now Macon-Bibb County) participated in the Association County Commissioners of Georgia’s (ACCG) Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS). This program provides civic education by exposing high school students to the role that local government plays and by introducing them to the leaders who make local governments work. Youth are offered the opportunity to gain knowledge about their local governments through hands-on learning experiences and witness firsthand the decision making process.
Macon-Bibb County is currently accepting applications from 11th and 12th grade students for this year’s cohort; those applications are due September 6, 2014. More information about the recent cohort and applications for this year’s cohort can be found by clicking here.
