January Yard of the Month

Congratulations to Angela Jones of 621 Melvin Place whose home was chosen as the January winner of the Lynmore Estates Yard of the Month (YOM) Award. The YOM Program supports current revitalization efforts in the Lynmore Estates neighborhood.

The Jones family moved to the neighborhood last year. Of the nominations submitted, the Jones’ yard was chosen “because of its curb appeal. It was mowed with a simple clean look. I especially like the uncluttered look of the porch,” said YOM committee member Janie Grayer. Reeves Minton of Minton’s Lawn and Garden Center joked to Ms. Jones as he presented her gift certificate that he couldn’t see where her yard needed anything and ant that she could probably offer them some tips. Ms. Jones expressed how she wanted her yard to reflect the pride she feels for home. To have her efforts recognized with this award, she feels, “…is awesome!”

The Lynmore Estates Yard of the Month committee chooses one yard in this south Macon neighborhood. A "Yard of the Month" sign is posted on the property for the month and the property owner is given a framed certificate and a $25 gift certificate from Minton’s Lawn and Garden Center. The presentation is photographed for inclusion on the Lynmore Estates and Macon Area Habitat for Humanity websites and for submission to the "Neighbors” section of the Telegraph for publication. Winners of the Yard of the Month automatically qualify for the Yard of the Year Award which carries a bigger prize package.
